It sounds as though you have a special way with birds, Vigs. The blackbird was lucky to have you there to help it.

In my case I had no time to go to get anything for the baby raccoon to land on, as it was slipping down the branch and I knew it would fall any minute.

Today near my house I saw newborn twin deer, and two beautiful stags with fuzzy antlers. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera either time.

Jen you did quite a brave thing to try and save that little raccoon and with excellent results. You should be proud as well as you too Vigs. It is so good to see human beings who actually care about saving or helping an animal -- even just noticing it. Far too often, in this busy world they fall out of range of caring or even being noticed. We don't always need a camera though to capture some of the best memories. But sharing them is such a joy too. Next time, Jen. Very Happy

I just took this outside the window. The reason it is a little hazy is because it was taken through a screen. I was afraid if I stopped to take it off, I would scare the babies away.

One of them is now bathing in a bucket of drinking water, and the other sitting in a bucket of cat food.

Oh, Jen! I love your small babies! Is the last one also a young racoon?

Yes, this is the baby that fell out of the tree, or his sister. They all look exactly alike. They are so cute.

They are just so cute!!! I love "vaskebjörne" (= racoons in Danish "washing bears" because they "wash" their food)

Raccoons have delighted me since I was a child when I used to watch them from my bedroom window eating out of what looked to be silver plates. Actually they were foil pans that my mom used to lay out with food unbeknownst to the rest of us. She couldn't help herself. Smile Then one day one got in the house and into her pantry cabinet - where it made a huge mess all over the house. It was one of the things mentioned in her eulogy how she loved animals and especially her escapades with raccoons -- which were many. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for posting their pics Jen. They're beautiful.

That is a sweet story Kal. They can be quite messy. They seem to be better at pulling things out of the cupboards, drawers and fridge than they are at putting them back. Try as I might, I have never managed to get them to put their banana peels or grape stems in the garbage.

Yesterday one apparently came into the house, because when I looked out there it was in the middle of the back lawn happily sitting eating a cookie from a nice and unopened tray I had just bought to take to a meeting. I tried to explain that cookies were really not good for it, but it growled in protest and went on eating until I began to approach, and then it picked up the tray of cookies and made it's way back up into the tree.
